Don’t you just love Roald Dahl?
April was just a blur around here, it was such a busy month that I’m not sure how I kept up! Here’s a quick wrap up of my month:
My beautiful new niece Marin was born at the beginning of the month. She’s perfect, she’s beautiful and how could you not just fall in love with this face (I mean look at those little baby lips!):
I made this video from the pictures I took on her birthday. If you are interested in sweet baby pictures and random pictures of my family, take a peek:(If the link below doesn’t work, try {clicking here} instead.)
Miss Marin was born just a couple of days before her big brother’s 2nd birthday, so his party had to be postponed a few days. He’s all boy, so of course he wanted a construction truck party! Lots of fun details from the party:
The adorable banner and cupcake picks were made using a Cricut and all of the construction toys came from Oriental Trading Company. We used CD cases as packaging for my Peanut Butter Monster Cookies, and the cupcakes were White Chocolate & Vanilla Bean.
We also made a lot of tasty food in April! Don’t miss the Skillet Chocolate Chip Cookie, the Banana Bread Bars or the Easy Marinara Sauce. For all of the April recipes, click {here}.
My cousin is getting married in June, so we had a family bridal shower for his fiance. My cousins, her soon-to-be sister-in-laws, threw a lovely shower. I did some baking and made a massive cake, some mini vanilla cupcakes, and some awesome pound cake, which are all coming to the blog soon.
And speaking of weddings, my baby brother got married at the end of the month. It was a stunning ceremony, full of love, joy and lots of family and friends. The wedding was held at a beautiful, airy downtown loft. The colors were gray and orange, and the subtle decorations were perfect for the space. And how gorgeous is my new sister-in-law?
Their photographers were an amazing pair of ladies who I’ve come to know very well over the past few years of blogging. If you are in the Kansas City area (or even if you aren’t) take a minute and check out their work. They are truly talented, passionate about their gift of photography and a pleasure to work with. Check out Melissa & Beth (who took the wedding pictures) and Melissa Rieke Photography (who was responsible for the adorable baby pictures.) Seriously, run over to their website and oogle over their work for a bit.
I did make some cupcakes for the big day, some Wedding Cupcakes (recipe coming soon) and my Red Velvet Cupcakes. Thanks for allowing me to share the details with you all here – I just had to share these pictures with you! As you can see, it was a fun day, and I’m pretty sure I’m still recovering from the big wedding weekend. A big congratulations to Jon-Jon & Abbey. Here’s to many years of love and happiness, and let’s get on the baby thing, ok?
Hope you all enjoyed this look into my crazy month. Now that May is here, things will slow down a bit, but we have some fun things planned for the blog! A couple of giveaways, a fantastic, functional re-design, a little bit of remodeling going on in the Lemon Sugar kitchen, and of course, lots of fantastic recipes to share.
Thanks for stopping by, and I’ll be back soon with more.

I made the Deep Fried Pickles and they were fabulous. My family always enjoys the ones at Texas Steakhouse and this was a yummy recipe that was quick, easy and very tasty. Needless to say they were a hit at our 1st BBQ last weekend. The Ranch dressing recipe that you have with them is also very good. My family loves a little taste of spice! Thank you for sharing this recipe.
