Peach Cobbler
Well, I’m back! I’ve been “offline” for about 3 weeks now. My husband and I took a wonderful, relaxing and much-need vacation to Puerto Morelos, Mexico a couple of weeks ago. And while I missed my girls terribly, we still had a great time. For the first time in nearly six years, we got to enjoy just being a couple again. No dirty diapers, spilled apple juice or Dora the Explorer wake up calls. We ate, drank, laid by the pool, played in the waves…

Cinnamon Rolls
Ahhh…cinnamon rolls. I’m not sure that there’s anything better than a really good cinnamon roll, but in my opinion a good one is really hard to find, and a good recipe is even harder to find. My biggest problem with most cinnamon roll recipes is that the bread part of the roll is usually bland, and the only cinnamon flavor you get comes from the filling itself. This recipe, however, has cinnamon in the dough itself, so the bread is flavorful too. But, if I’m…

Honey Mustard Salad Dressing
I feel like we are a couple of weeks behind everyone else, but it’s finally back-to-school week at my house. We’re getting back into the swing of things, painfully shedding our summertime schedules and trying to remember what it’s like to set alarm clocks and adhere to bedtime routines. Since I’m totally a creature of habit, I look forward to this time of year. I love having my daughter home with me all summer long, but I thrive on schedules and routines. Plus, do…

#MyHomeTownGuide – Five of My Favorite Eats in Kansas City
It’s that time of year in Kansas City. Winter is slipping away, and spring is just. about. here. Suddenly 45 degrees feels balmy, and we are looking for any reason we can think of to get out of the house. Fortunately for us, KC is full, and I mean full, of fantastic restaurants and foodie hot-spots to keep our mind off of Mother Nature’s indecisiveness. Kansas City is primarily known as a barbecue town, and there’s good reason for that. In fact, two of my…

Cream Cheese Banana Nut Bread
I have to say that I’m a bit relieved that the holiday season is over. The last six weeks have been a total blur. Shopping, parties, planning, cleaning, baking, wrapping (oh, the wrapping…).

2015 Roundup
It’s been a great year here at Lemon Sugar. Lots of new recipes, lots of new opportunities, the c-word (cookbook!) is floating around, and even though I had a busy year outside the blog, I still managed to keep it a priority and watch it grow. I can’t thank you all enough for your support, your comments, your likes, your pins, your tweets, your shares. I know that you, as readers, have EVERYTHING to do with how successful I am here, and really – a…

Pumpkin Pound Cake
So, let me preface this by saying that I miss ya’ll! Life has been insane around here lately, and I haven’t had time to be in the kitchen, or even much time at all to chat with everyone on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and via e-mail. My work schedule has changed, so getting the family into a new routine has been taking its toll on me this week. Thank you all for asking about me and for all of the notes looking for new recipes!…

A Pantry Makeover with Organized Living™ (Part 2: After)
(This is part two of a two-part series. To see part one, click {here}.) This post has been so long in the making that I really can’t believe I’m actually finally typing it. I’ve been working with the folks at Organized Living for a few months now, working out the details of this project, getting it installed and working out a giveaway for you guys, and now it’s all done – and I am in LOVE with my new pantry. In. Love. Over the past…

Snowball Cupcakes
We have had some FANTASTIC weather around here for the first part of December – 70 degree temperature-sunshiny-beautiful weather, and I love it. The girls are still playing outside, we were able to decorate the outside of our house for Christmas without getting frostbite, and I’ve yet to really break out my winter coat. In December. Unreal.

Hot Chocolate Cake with Homemade Marshmallows
So, my daughter’s 7th birthday is next week. First of all, it’s really just not possible that she’s turning seven years old. Not possible. Second of all, this means that I have a big family party looming on the horizon. That means my house has to be cleaned. It also means I need to plan a menu, figure out decorations and – oh yeah – do all that cooking and baking without undoing all of the cleaning and planning.

Slow Cooker Apple-Cinnamon Steel-Cut Oatmeal
If there’s one meal of the day that I’m really bad at, it’s breakfast. For one, I’m not a morning person at all. I like to sip on my coffee for at least an hour before I eat breakfast, but on weekday mornings, that’s just not an option. The first-grader has to eat breakfast just 20 minutes after she rolls out of bed, and she never, ever wants anything easy – she always wants pancakes, waffles, french toast…cereal is always frowned upon, as are toast,…

Banana Bread Cupcakes
Bananas wasting away in my fruit bowl + Marscapone cheese and walnuts in the fridge = DELISH concoction by yours truly. I love banana bread, but my girls eat bananas like they’re going out of style, so we never have any left to make treats with. This week, however, they left me with nearly a full bunch of bananas to play with. YAY! Furthermore, my husband has training tomorrow so he has lots of hungry guys to feed these to. Bonus. These are wonderful muffins. …
