Share-It Saturday: Week 2
We had a great turnout last week for our first weekly link-up here at Lemon Sugar. With over 40 fabulous recipes to choose from, I really had my work cut out for me in choosing our featured bloggers for this week! Thank you to everyone who contributed, and I look forward to what you have to share with us today. So, without further delay, here are three of my favorites from last week. Alaska From Scratch brings us Nutella Yogurt Fruit Dip. How AMAZING does…

Chocolate Syrup Bundt Cake
So today, I got this craving. I was craving this cake from my past. It was an AMAZING chocolate bundt cake, topped with an almost-crispy, sugary glaze. I loved that cake. Problem is, I have absolutely no idea where it came from. My only memory is the yumminess of the yummy, yummy cake. I feel like it was from a deli somewhere, like a Panera, Schlotzsky’s, or Einstein Bagel-kinda place, but I honestly have no idea. Memories like that make me feel like I’m out…

Castello Moments: A Roundup of Recipes
Last week I shared a recipe with you, for Cheesy Potato Gratin, made with Castello’s Hirten Cheese. Many of my fellow bloggers also participated in this recipe development program, which was sponsored by Honest Cooking Magazine and Castello Cheese. After browsing their submissions, I wanted to be sure to share them all with you as well, because these seriously talented cooks came up with some fabulous recipes. Take a few minutes and check them out. Hope you find yourself as inspired as I did –…

No Bake Cheesecake in a Jar
Did you know I’m on Facebook? Click {here} to follow along! There are many wonderful things to be said about living in the middle of the country. I realize that to many of you, the Midwestern Plains are regarded as little more than “fly-over” states, but I’m perfectly happy to call it home. It’s lovely – peaceful and laid back, slow-paced and friendly. I love it. Except, perhaps, when it’s over 100 degrees outside for the umpteenth day in a row, and it’s hardly rained at…

Firecrackers & Football Cookies
This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #ScoreMoreFans#CollectiveBias Can you believe the big February football game is almost here again? I mostly can’t believe it because January just flew by – which is really ok because as you know, I’m not a winter kind of girl – I’m counting down the seconds until warm weather. I really shouldn’t complain about this time of year though, because it’s actually pretty fun. With all of the football…

Butterfinger Cheesecake
Please enjoy this throw-back recipe. One of my favorites! I might be a wee-bit obsessed. With cheesecake, of all things. Which, actually is a GOOOOOD thing, but really, why can’t I be obsessed with Kale? Or Flax Seed? Or Chickpeas? (I don’t know – those are the first three healthy-like things that popped into my cheesecake-obsessed head.) This cheesecake, you guys – it’s awesome. It’s easy. It goes together in no time, and you can change it up with your favorite add-ins, toppings, and crust.…

One Hour Cinnamon Rolls
So, I’ve told you guys that I’m married to a cop before, yes? Well, I am. Actually though, as of last week, he’s now a detective – which is kind of cool in an “I-want-to-be-a-detective-when-I-grow-up” kind of way.

Bacon, Egg & Pepper Jack on Toasted Ciabatta
Uncharacteristic trait of a food blogger number 982: I don’t really like eggs. Clearly, I eat my fair share of them in baked goods, and I even enjoy quiche. Plain old eggs, though, I can’t really get behind. Runny yolks? Don’t get me started. (But why? Why would you eat runny yolks? Help me understand!)

A Family Birthday Party
My oldest daughter turned seven years old yesterday. I realize that every year, I find myself lamenting that it’s just not possible that another birthday has come and gone, but it really does amaze me just how quickly time flies.

Cinnamon Roll Scones
These cinnamon “rolls” take 40 minutes from start to finish, including baking time. They don’t have to rise, and they don’t use yeast so they’re more like a cinnamon scone – they have a crumbly texture instead of a smooth bread texture. Nonetheless, when you’re craving cinnamon rolls but don’t have 4 hours to whip some up, these definitely will fit the bill. These are best eaten warm, but a quick zap in the microwave for 2 days after they’re made brings them right back…

Easy Hot Fudge Sauce
A lot of memories from my childhood are centered around food. I think that’s normal for a lot of people (right?) but I’d go so far as to say that 90% of my memories contain food somehow. Perhaps that’s because I’m the oldest of five kids, so mealtimes were always massive undertakings, but nonetheless, food conjures up a lot of nostalgia. For instance, my parents used to load all five kids into the minivan once a month for a trip to the grocery store. We’d…

Spinach Queso Dip
So, let’s talk football. My family is obsessed. College football on Saturday, NFL on Sunday, Monday and even Thursday sometimes. High school football on Friday nights, fantasy football leagues everywhere I turn, and pick-up games of catch before and after Sunday dinner. Now, I like football as much as the next person (ok, well maybe a *tiny* bit less), but I have to say that I get more excited about the football parties and the tailgating than I do the actual games. And right at…
