Mickey Mouse Party

My little nephew turned one year old yesterday.  He’s just the cutest, cuddliest, happiest kid ever.  He’s the result of my {Lemon Drop Cupcakes} from a year ago, the first time we experimented with the secret lemon-juice-theory recipe.  Who knows if it worked, or if this little guy was just ready to come into the world, but I can’t imagine my life without my favorite bald-headed monster.

My sister hosted a big Mickey Mouse party and we all had a great time.  I thought you might like to see some of the pictures from the party – I didn’t contribute much except a {basic chocolate cupcake with vanilla butter cream}, {whoopie pies} and a new cheese-dip recipe (which I’ll blog about soon), and I did make his smash-cake.  It was just a 3 layer, 4-inch chocolate cake with the same vanilla butter cream and lots of mini M&M’s.

Dinner was smoked, pulled pork sandwiches, settler’s beans, fruit salad, green salad and homemade macaroni and cheese.  This was my sister’s mother-in-law’s recipe for settler’s beans, and they were really good.  I’ll have to get that recipe!

The decorations were really cute.  Polka dot balloons in red, black and white and lots of Mickey Mouse shapes everywhere.  My favorite were the little hats that she made for the birthday boy and his older sister.  The big kids had a “clubhouse bouncy house” and luckily we had a beautiful day for them to be outside.

I’ll get the recipe up for the cheese dip soon, and I have a couple new spring dessert recipes coming this week as well.

Hope you enjoyed the pictures, and I hope you all had a happy Easter or Passover season!
