This is my favorite chocolate cake recipe by far, and was totally gorgeous when I finished it – but I put it in my car to keep it cool before transporting it to my parent’s house…apparently the sun shining in the window of the car will melt a cake in no time…oops. But, as you can see from the picture, that didn’t stop us from eating it!! I wasn’t even going to put it on the blog because it was such as mess, but it was SO YUMMY that I had to share. Thus the name, Hot Mess Chocolate Cake.
Anyway, it’s not pretty but it sure tasted good. This is three layers of chocolate cake with fudge ganache between the layers, topped with chocolate buttercream frosting and a ganache glaze – and mini chocolate chips sprinkled all over. Yum. I would highly suggest some vanilla ice cream or a large glass of milk with this one. And napkins. Lots of napkins.
